RESIGNATION OF GENERAL SECRETARYTony Newsham has informed us that due to personal reasons he has been forced to resign as BAFRA's General Secretary. I'm sure everyone in BAFRA will join me in wishing Tony all the best for the future, both inside and outside football. This means we have another situation vacant. The General Secretary is responsible for membership registration, and the protection and discrimination of the information relating to membership. He/she is the secretary of the Executive Board and arranges meetings for all Committees. He/she is responsible for general communications and correspondence, and for the proper administration of Committees formed by the Board. To fill the post we are looking for someone with good communication skills, competent in IT, and with an eye for detail. Applications should be sent by email to president@bafra.org before Friday 11th August. If you are considering applying or want more information, please contact Jim Briggs for an informal discussion. Roger Stangroom has agreed to take over as Acting General Secretary pending an appointment being made.

SMALL WORLDJust spent a pleasant stay at Torquay and the joint owner was the sister of John Smith, New England Kicker and TV presenter most of us will remember especially for the snow plough kick in 1982! Very friendly comfortable Hotel and enjoyable chat about American Football. So anyone interested in knowing a quiet, beautiful friendly hotel up the hill from the clock tower in the centre of Torquay I can recommend it. The "Full English" breakfast is as good as it sounds. Cary Court Hotel is on Hunsdon Road, TQ1 1QB 01803 209205 or www.carycourthotel.co.uk. Oh and John is well and running soccer schools in New England.

FIELD AUDITThanks to everyone who completes the field audit every week. It seems it is making an impact on teams with quite a few striving to improve their facilities. At last we've had two "perfect" scores: from Nottingham Caesars and Cambridgeshire Cats. Redditch Arrows, Oxford Saints and Ipswich Cardinals are the other teams leading the table at the moment. The leading Division 1 teams are Southern Sundevils and PA Knights. There's still plenty of time for teams to move up and down the leaderboard, especially as some teams have only had 1 or 2 home games so far.

FINAL SCOREPlay: The game goes to extra periods with the score tied, 10-10. On its first possession, the home team kicks a field goad to go ahead, 13-10. On the first play of the visiting team's possession, an intercepted pass is returned for a score. What is the final score? Is it 15-10, 19-10, 13-10 or something else? Ruling: Because the home team scored, it is allowed to keep the points. That play resulted in a touchdown for the home team, making the final score 19-10 (3-1-3e, 8-3-1).
