WORLD FLAG CHAMPIONSHIPS

I have heard that both Martin Cockerill and Lee Baker have also been selected to officiate at the World Flag championships in Cologne. Congratulations to both of them.

LUKE ADAM BRIDGLAND

My son Luke Adam Bridgland, was born by caesarean section at 11.42am yesterday, Saturday 12th August. He weighed a whopping 8 pounds 12 ounces and his mother Wendy is a bit relieved that he was delivered by caesarean in the end, as she had been in labour for a long time.

BAFRA SHIRTS

Following the successful issue of BAFRA shirts commemorating our 20th anniversary, the Executive Board has agreed to extend this to include all members who have joined since this issue and are "Qualified". Please contact Charlie (finance@bafa.org) confirming that you meet the criteria and stating your size. These will be available in any colour you like as long as it is black (as Henry Ford famously did not say), and will contain the BAFRA logo but no name.

If you do not meet the criteria but still want one, then there will be a cost of £10.00 each, plus postage.

Closing date for orders is 9th September.

EXPENSES

Last week I sent expenses cheques to all members owed more than £6, and three more were sent today. Anybody who hasn't got theirs should email me this week, whilst I'm at home, so that I can rectify any omissions.

All members are requested to pay any outstanding cheques in before the 28th September, so that they clear before the accounts close. A few people have cheques from early June which have not yet cleared.

ELECTION OF DIRECTORS

I have sent out nomination forms to all members. Anyone who needs one and hasn't received it by next week should contact me.

  • Charles Dean-Young (Finance)
  • David Parsons (Training)
  • Roger Stangroom (General Secretary)

ELITE PROGRAMME TRAINING DAY

Further to the note in Newsflash 28 a couple of weeks ago, we can confirm that the Elite Programme Training Day will be held on Saturday 16th September at the Holiday Inn London Heathrow Ariel, 118 Bath Road, Hayes, Middlesex (note that there are a couple of other Holiday Inns in the Heathrow area).

Start at 0930, finish approx 1600.

A few people have sent their apologies. If you're not on the elite programme but would like to come, let us know.

BLOCKED PUNT

Play: Fourth and 10 on A's 35-yard line. B1 blocks A2's punt behind the line, and the ball rolls to Team A's 30-yard line. A3 picks up the loose ball and runs for an apparent touchdown.
Is A3's advance legal?

Ruling: Yes, Team A has scored a touchdown. Any member of the kicking may catch or recover and advance a scrimmage kick while it is in or behind the neutral zone. However, if the kick crosses the neutral zone and returns to or behind the neutral zone, the ball becomes dead when a Team A player catches or recovers the ball and it may not be advanced (6-3-1a).
