Availability – URGENT and ImportantThe BUAFL season starts shortly. The new availability form is online and all members need to complete it quickly. I have promised to let the league know by October 14th which of their 18 games we will and will not be covering. Pete Situations VacantWith the introduction of the new constitution on 1st October, we currently have 3 vacancies for the Board of Directors, viz:
We are also looking for a chair and a few members of a Flag Working Party, the job of which will be to come up with:
If you wish to apply formally for one of these posts, please email me. I'm also available to answer informal enquiries about the duties that they might entail. Jim. Change of personnelI'm sure nobody missed Roger Stangroom's sign-off last week with his last issue of Newsflash and from his other BAFRA roles. On behalf of everyone, I'd like to thank Roger for the sterling service he has done the Association over several years. It's a measure of Roger's contribution that we have appointed five people to take over his jobs! So while we say goodbye to Roger and wish him well in all his future endeavours (I'm sure he'll get bored on Sunday afternoons!), we also say welcome to the new members of the BAFRA team:
BritBowl medallionsTo all members of the 4 BritBowl weekend crews… If you haven't got the correct medallion from the BritBowl weekend, please let me know which one you've got and which one you should have. Some people got "runner up" medals by mistake. BAFL have apologised for the confusion. Jim. Revisions to the BAFRA Terms & ConditionsWith effect from 1st October, there are two small revisions to the BAFRA Terms & Conditions. 1. We will no longer waive the admin fee for friendlies. We are incurring just as much travel costs on those as for regular season games, and they are no longer the opportunity for training rookies that they were when the policy was introduced 17 years ago. The normal charge of £60 will therefore apply to all senior games, and £30 to all youth games. 2. Secondly, we no longer offer the 50% discount on the admin fee to teams playing on days other than Sunday. Again, these games cost us just as much in travel expenses, and there are now so many games being played on Saturdays that we don't want to make this an incentive to play more. The full £60 (£30 for youth) is therefore charged every day of the week. Full details can be found at http://www.bafra.org/info/handbook/tcannex2007.htm. The leagues have been informed and asked to pass the information on to their teams. Please ensure you charge teams the new correct amount.
