NEXT HOME GAME

18/05/08

Maidstone Pumas

Field had been marked in the same colour as a rugby field, which led to a little confusion. Groundsmen had also marked "nine yard line marks" at the inbounds lines. Officials were not paid as the game day manager forgot his chequebook.

Dan Bridgland #506

08/06/08 vs Colchester Gladiators

  Outstanding items from previous weeks

Shropshire Revolution

Game was delayed for 20mins due to an injury to Revolution's #67 who suffered a broken leg. The crew wish him well with his recovery and congratulate both sides for their patience and effort during a hard-fought game.

Keith Alldritt #323

08/06/08 vs Lincolnshire Bombers

Bolton Bulldogs

No team areas, ten yard lines only. The second half started late 30 minutes due to the ambulance taking two injured players to hospital.

Charlie Dean Young #258

01/06/08 vs Highland Wildcats

Gateshead Senators Youth

The chains broke 6 times during the game. The game was scheduled for an apparent 11am kick off, however the officials were informed that the KO was 12.00. Plaudits to Highland Warriors who travelled for 8 hours and were a credit to Scottish Football! Thanks go to both teams for an excellent game.
Chris Jarvis #10

22/06/08 vs Sheffield Tomahawks

Lincolnshire Bombers

No nine yard marks or numbers, team areas too small, crew had to change in two separate changing rooms as one was too small for all 5 of us. This was not Lincolnshire's usual field and they did well to get it marked out at short notice.

Pete Thom #200

22/06/08 vs Tamworth Phoenix

London Blitz

Chain set provided included a down box that was detached from the stake and could not be attached. This resulted in the box operator having to carry the box for the duration of the game.

Richard Vernon #103

01/06/08 vs Farnham Fast Lane Knights

West Coast Trojans

Coaching & team area's marked down to the 15yd lines. Game was abandoned at half time when the Trojans ran out of linemen.

Les Connor #152

08/06/08 vs Redditch Arrows

Gateshead Senators

No team area or coaches box. No numbers or 9 yard marks. The chains broke and had to be repaired, some of the chain crew vanished at half time and had to be replaced.

Pete Thom #200

22/06/08 vs East Kilbride Pirates

Hampshire Thrashers

Start of game delayed for 12 minutes due to the late arrival of the ambulance. The game was suspended for 15 minutes for the ambulance crew to attend to an injured player.

Mike LeFevre #341

29/06/08 vs South Wales Warriors

Sussex Thunder

Sussex originally thought that they might have pre-paid but when I informed them before the game that they had not, they said that they would sort out cash after the game. We waited 30 minutes after the end of the game but no-one came to find us in the changing rooms, so we left. I had a call this evening from Tony Miller to say that they had tried to get cash from three ATMs but could not manage it. They have promised to pay BAFRA electronically.

Dan Bridgland #506

01/06/08 vs Ipswich Cardinals

Essex Spartans

No team areas, coaching boxes or limit lines. Dimensions of field numbers less than required, however top of numbers were 9 yards from the sidelines.

Phil Clarke #372

06/07/08 vs London Cobras

London Cobras

Field too long – 105 yards. Both teams agreed to play it as marked. In addition, the endzones were oversized, about 13yds each. Plaudits to both teams for a spirited game with few fouls, the majority of them being 5 yarders.

Steve Tonkinson #99

01/06/08 vs Essex Spartans

Yorkshire Rams Youth

Only soccer size goals where available, pitch was well marked out but was approximately five yards too wide. Balls supplied where not league-issued, away team provided the correct ones. Despite these minor issues an excellent game was played between two very good youth teams.

Ian Wainwright #567

22/06/08 vs Bolton Bulldogs

Dundee Hurricanes

No 5yd lines. Coaching box marked to 30yd line. No hashmarks. Short yard extension lines only 45 feet from sideline & did not match up with the ones at the sideline. Numbers on the field were at the sidelines & very small.

Les Connor 152

13/07/08 vs Redditch Arrows

Southern Sundevils

No numbers or 9yd marks. While most lines were fine, some were faint due to the grass having been cut after they were painted. One team area line was more than 12ft from sideline. Goals both too wide and too low (and each goal differently so to the other). Sundevils had not received their league balls. We used Oxford's.
Chain crew, one of the ball boys was quite poor - the ball boy in particular was inattentive. Neither team had received sideline credentials. Oxford head coach had received his coach's ID but had left it at home. One end zone was 10yds deep; the other was 8yds deep.

Jim Briggs #31

15/06/08 vs Sussex Thunder

Note: it is possible that any game may be cancelled, or any team may arrange additional games. In addition, the large number of game cancellations this week means that the fixtures listed here are highly likely to change. Any dates mentioned here are intended only as a guide.

END ZONE

PLAY OF THE WEEK:

New this week

Play: A's ball, free kick, on A's 35. A4's free kick is caught on B's 8 by B47 who advances to B's 15 and fumbles. B94 accidentally kicks the rolling ball on B's 17 and the ball bounces through B's end zone and over B's end line.

Ruling?

Last week's play

Play: A's ball, 3rd and 4, on A's 46. QB A16 throws a quick down and out pass to A86. B47 tackles A86 on A's 49 just as the otherwise catchable forward pass hits B47 on the helmet and falls incomplete.

Ruling: A's ball, 1st and 10, on A's 49. The penalty for B47's defensive pass interference foul is Team A's ball at the spot of the foul and a first down. Team A would have the option of accepting a 15-yard penalty with an automatic first down if B47's foul was a personal foul – a possibility if the pass had been uncatchable.
