OFFICIATION COORDINATOR
A number of members have contacted me to ask about the advertisement that has appeared on the BAFL website seeking to recruit a league "officiation coordinator".
Glen Schild has told me that BAFL envisages this role in two parts: one being day-to-day liaison on behalf of BAFL with BAFRA concerning scheduling matters; the other being involved with the league's plan to recruit team judges to cover the games (e.g. flag, youth and potentially Div 2 adult contact) that BAFRA cannot.

The selection panel meets on Saturday 30th August to consider bowl crew selections. If your availability for September is not up to date, you have until 6pm on Friday 29th August to submit any changes in order to be considered available for the bowl games.

Soccer goalpost sockets required filling as they were in the endzone at both ends of the field. Phil Clarke #372 |

Bolton Bulldogs |
All the Bulldogs' equipment was locked in a store to which the Council had recently changed the locks. Team had no access to the store. No 5 yard lines on the field, no goalposts and the match balls were of very poor quality. The stakes were telescopic rods which extended to 5' and had no clear markings – it was difficult to see them. The chain crew did their best in spite of the horrendous weather conditions, but they were – apart from the down box person – very slow and unsure about their role. Tim Vickers #129 |

Teams were informed of a 1pm kick off, officials were informed of a 2:30pm kick off. Game kicked off at 1:40 pm and continued as long as there was medical cover available. The ambulance was only booked between 1pm and 4pm – it had to leave at 3:50pm. The game was abandoned at this point. Henry Richardson #358 |

Southern Sundevils |
End zones only 8yds deep. Inbounds lines 21yds from sidelines. Goals strapped to fence, 3yds beyond end line - officials could not get behind. Two wires across the field about 8ft off ground. We notified both teams that if the ball touched the wire it would be dead and inadvertent whistle provisions would apply. Phil Clarke #372 |

|
New this week |

A's ball on B's 3, try. A33 advances and fumbles on B's 2. The
ball rolls into B's end zone where B57 bats the ball over the end
line.
|
|
Last week's play |
Play:
Team A, 1st and 10 on the B40. A89 is playing at tight
end, his team-mate A11 lines up at wide receiver on the line and
covers A89 (so A89 is not on the end of the line). A89 runs to
the B32 and is thrown the ball by A3. A89 and B36, who is marking
A89, simultaneously jump to catch the ball. A89 Catches the ball
