UPDATE TO THE BAFA DISCIPLINARY CODE
An updated version of the BAFA Disciplinary Code comes into effect on 1st October 2008. The new Code is the third version of what was originally introduced in 1990.
The update follows a long period of consultation across the sport and reflects developments both within British American football and also disciplinary practice in other sports such as soccer, rugby union and
volleyball.
As a sport, we are fortunate to have had few serious disciplinary incidents in recent years, but the new Code gives us the ability to deal effectively with anything that might crop up in the future.
The 2008 version of the Code retains the central role of BAFA's member organisations in disciplining their members, with BAFA itself only dealing with unusual or cross-sport cases. There are also changes to the processes of appeal that are available to participants.
The full text of the Disciplinary Code can be found (temporarily until the BAFA website is upgraded) at
http://www.bafra.org/rulesctee/hdbk/index.htm
New rules that govern the inter-relationships between the BAFA organisations also come into force. They can be found at the same URL.

OCTOBER ASSIGNMENT AND AVAILABILITY
I have uploaded October assignments to the website and have also sent emails to all assigned officials. We only have 8 games to cover in October.
There are still a number of people who have not submitted availability forms. Could I urge you to do so as soon as possible please. I am about to start looking at assignments for the college season. Even if you do not intend to work college games please update your availability accordingly. It does make things easier.

MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS
So far I have had 26 membership renewals (including those who joined just before the renewal date whose membership is automatically renewed). Officially, renewals are due from 1st October. The renewal fee goes up on 1st November, so it pays to get your renewal in before then. I will start publishing a list of those members who have renewed in future copies of Newsflash.
