Volunteers

I need a few volunteers to help out during both days of the Convention to make sure everything runs smoothly. This will involve moving everyone around between Break-Out Sessions, staffing the Sign-In Desk and also keeping the programme on schedule. Drop me an email if you can help.

JOHN SLAVIN TROPHY 2007-08

John Slavin was a long-serving BAFRA official and sometime director of the Association who sadly died in October 2005. In his memory BAFRA has dedicated an award made to a team that shows commitment to improving the game experience for players and fans, as well as officials.

This season BAFRA members have been conducting an audit of game management at each team's home game. It is therefore appropriate that the John Slavin Trophy should be presented to the team that has consistently performed best in this.

The 2007-08 BUAFL award goes to Southampton Stags.

The Stags will be presented with their award at the BUAFL Championship Game. BAFRA member Chris Jarvis will make the presentation.

END ZONE

PLAY OF THE WEEK:

New this week

Play: A's ball, 4th and 2, on A's 28. B23 muffs A4's punt on B's 35 and is chasing the ball with his back to the line of scrimmage. A88 races B23 for the ball, dives and pushes B23 hard at the knees from the back on B's 30, in an attempt to get to and recover the football. B23 recovers the ball on B's 22.

Ruling?

Last week's play

Play: A's ball on B's 30, 4th and 8. A9's low field goal attempt is blocked by B57 on B's 28. A42 recovers on B's 34 and advances to B's 21 where he is downed.

Ruling: The blocking of a scrimmage kick by an opponent of the kicking team who is no more than three yards beyond the neutral zone is considered to have occurred within or behind that zone. Thus, the kick did not cross the neutral zone. A Team A player may recover and advance. A's ball on B's 21, 1st and 10. The clock starts on the snap.
