CONVENTION COUNTDOWN

50 and counting

We still have 5 weeks to go and already 50 people have registered to attend the convention. It looks like we could break last year’s attendance of 60. My thanks to everyone for signing up well in advance as it helps considerably with the final arrangements.

DVD

Over the last few years we have issued a DVD at the convention. However my source for making copies has now moved to another job. Can anyone help? If so, get in touch with me as soon as possible

No Vacancies (Almost)

26 people have booked accommodation for the Friday night and 41 for the Saturday. As such, we don’t have many rooms left at the discounted rates. If you want to take advantage of the rates on offer you will need to contact Charlie by Friday 20th March at the latest. We cannot guarantee the discounted rates after that date.

Registration

The following 50 members have booked their places at the Convention. If you are not listed it may be because you have only recently confirmed your place. An updated list will be issued next week.

Durham Saints	No team or coaches areas, no 9 yard marks (field numbers only 3 yards inbounds) no goalposts. 100 yard field. Four trees less then 6 feet from sideline on one side of the field, at the 7 yardline, goal line, mid endzone and just past the end line. Sunderland Spartans	Field very uneven. No goal posts at either end. No coaching box. No Team area. Changing room was attached to the swimming pool. Down box Numbers were made of paper. Tarannau Aberystwyth	No numbers on the field, no 9 yard marks, no pylons, no limit lines outside sideline. Kickoff delayed ten minutes due to late arrival of the visiting team. One ball had to be supplied by the visiting team. Crew not paid, game management as well as the entire home team disappeared after the game. Outstanding items from previous weeks
Liverpool Fury	No goals and due to unmoveable hockey nets (chained to fence) the endzone was amended using original 5yd line as goal line. Side and 5/10yd markings newly put down and were very faint. No team/coach areas, hash marks or hash marks on the sidelines. Keith Alldritt #323	Unknown

UEA Pirates	No Ambulance till a player called and arranged for one to attend for which he had to pay £350 on his own personal card. Ambulance arrived 70 minutes late. 4th quarter was a 15 minute running clock due to running out of light. Both teams and coaches are to be commended for the way they handled the situation. PLAY OF THE WEEK:

New this week

Play: A's ball on B's 41, 4th and 9. B23 muffs A8's scrimmage kick on B's 1 and the ball rolls into B's end zone. B23 picks up the ball and starts to run but fumbles the ball while still in B's end zone. B56 recovers on B's 2 and advances to B's 22 where he is downed. During B23's fumble, B55 blocked A74 below the waist at B's 6.
Ruling?

Last week's play

Play: A's ball, 4th and 17, on B's 42. A83 catches a legal forward pass on B's 20 and advances to B's 5 where he is hit and fumbles. A83's fumble rolls forward into and across the sideline in B's end zone. B88 commits a roughing the passer foul.
Ruling: The result of the play is a touchback since the fumble went forward but out of bounds in B's end zone. Roughing the passer enforcement on a completed forward pass is from the end of the last run when that run ends beyond the neutral zone and there is no change of team possession during the down. There is no change of team possession during the down although there is a change of team possession at the end of the down. The 15-yard penalty is enforced from the end of A83's run, B's 5. A's ball, 1st and goal, on B's 2 1/2.
