BUCCANEERS/PATRIOTS GAME AT WEMBLEY OCTOBER 25TH 2009

BAFRA have been approached to supply the chain crew for the NFL game at Wembley on Sunday 25th October between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New England Patriots.

At this stage, we don't know exactly how many people they will need, nor what they are offering in terms of expenses and/or accommodation (it may be nil). However, if you would like to volunteer for this assignment, please email operations@bafra.org by no later than Friday September 4th at 6pm.

If you have previous experience as chain crew (e.g. with the Monarchs, Claymores or one of the two previous NFL games at Wembley) please mention that in your email.

The final crew will be picked by the BAFRA selection committee from the list of volunteers.

Coventry Jets

There were no 5 yard lines and the down box did not operate properly. There were some issues with Farnham's shirt numbering, they were resolved when they agreed to use an old strip which had a few duplicate numbers.

Cambridge Cats

Ambulance was stuck in traffic and arrived late. Kickoff delayed by 30 mins.

Gateshead Senators

No team areas. Goal post are sited behind the end line, as has been the case since Gateshead started playing on the field over 10 years ago. Chain set dial numbers do not show correctly. Chain crew changed at half time. Even with these problems the game was played in a good spirit. Both teams fought hard to the last drive.

END ZONE

PLAY OF THE WEEK:

New this week

Play: 4th and 8 on A's 21. A12's punt is blocked. The ball is rolling around at A's 10 when B75 – reaching down in an attempt to recover the ball – unintentionally kicks the ball into A's endzone where A77 recovers while grounded.
Ruling?

Last week's play

Play: A's ball on B's 3, try. The score is A20-B21. Time expired in the 4th quarter during A39's touchdown run. QB A17 completes a forward pass to A88 in B's end zone. The pass was thrown from B's 2.
Ruling: The pass by A17 was an illegal forward pass since the pass was from beyond the neutral zone. The penalty is five yards from the spot of the pass and a loss of down. The loss of down provision means that the try ends. The game is over. Team B wins. The final score is A20-B21.
