ELITE TRAINING DAY

This Saturday sees the 2009 BAFRA Elite Programme Training Day at the Coventry Hill hotel (the site of the BAFRA convention). The day commences with coffee at 9.30 for a 9.45 start and has an estimated finishing time of 5pm. The agenda will include presentations, video review and position-specific breakout sessions, the presenters are drawn from some of BAFRA's most experienced officials.

There are still a few last minute spaces available to BAFRA members who are not currently members of the Elite Panel, so if you have been undecided to this point as to whether you wish to attend, you can still decide to do so by contacting myself at epcoordinator@bafra.org.

NEXT HOME GAME

New this week

London Cobras

Game started at 4pm (an hour late) due to injury in the youth game. Following a serious arm injury to a Cambridgeshire player with 12 minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter, which resulted in a long medical delay and various discussions between the two teams' coaches, Cambridgeshire conceded the game with the score 22-6 to the Cobras.

Changing rooms have no separate toilet or shower and are over 200 yards from the playing field (accessed under the M4 motorway). No numbers or nine-yard marks on field. Chain crew very slow and uncertain about what to do even after being told many times. Game suspended for almost an hour during the first possession in overtime due to what appeared to be a serious neck injury to a Farnham player.

END ZONE

PLAY OF THE WEEK:

New this week

Play: Overtime. A's ball on B's 25, 4th and 10. A4's field goal attempt is wide left. A36 is illegally in motion. B54 commits a personal foul (post scrimmage kick enforcement) on B's 12 during the kick..
Ruling?

Last week's play

Play: A's ball, try, on B's 3. Team A's kicker and holder are in their normal position to attempt a field goal. The snapper's backward pass is high and caught by kicker A6. A6 tosses the ball to the holder still on his knee. The holder places the ball and A6 kicks the ball between the uprights above the crossbar.
Ruling: A's ball, free kick, on A's 35. Successful try. Since the potential kicker is in position to kick the ball held for a place kick, the ball remains a live ball. This is therefore a valid kick (4-1-3-b).
