Referee's Signal Number 17 - Uncatchable Pass

Uncatchable Pass

When used

This signal is used by the covering official to indicate that in his judgement the forward pass was uncatchable. This may negate any pass interference calls made in the vicinity of the intended receiver.

How executed

Begin with one hand held over and slightly behind your head, and then bring it forward in front of your head simulating the motion of a ball passing overhead out of reach. It may be repeated a number of times so that others may recognise it.
