Referee's Signal Number 34 - Roughing the Passer

When used

This signal is used by the Referee to indicate that the passer has been illegally contacted following a forward pass.

Penalty

This foul attracts a 15 yard penalty and an automatic First Down. This is added to the end of the last run when it ends beyond the neutral zone, otherwise from the previous spot.

How executed

Begin with one hand up by the side of you head, and bring it forwards in a unhurried passing motion. This signal will be preceded by the personal foul signal (S38).

Finally point to the offending team by streching an arm out from the shoulder to the horizontal.
